Amazing place to eat shrimp, fish and sea food. Prices are cheap if compared to the volume of food they serve. Service is nice, staff is helpful. Just take care to find the original João do Camarão, people say that there is fake ones.

Never been to Macapa before, and when I asked locals about a good place to eat typical Amapá food, they all recommended without hesitation João do Camarão. First, it is located along the avenue that borders the river-sea. So, expect an amazing view from the place. The environment is cozy, and staff is super friendly (though it may take a while tô get your waiting staff attention at times, especially when the place is full). Now the good... Oh God... DELICIOUS. Try any of the dished with their specialty fish 'filhote'. The crunchy one is a winner. Another top choice is the 'pink shrimp'. If you feel like trying capirinhas flavoured with local fruits and herbs, that is a good call as well. Pricewise, it is not the cheapest place to to, but if you share dishes, it will be too bad. If I have the chance to return to Macapa, I will definetely come again to João do Camarão.
